Celebrating Our Veterans
Commodore SGA students were invited to Baltimore's annual Veterans Day Parade at City Hall by City Council President, Nick Mosby. It was a great experience to talk with local politicians who strive to make Charm City better and veterans who have served our country so valiantly . Commodore's SGA would like to say thank you to all veterans for defending our freedom.
“Veterans know better than anyone else the price of freedom, for they’ve suffered the scars of war. We can offer them no better tribute than to protect what they have won for us.”
- Ronald Reagan, 1983, in a radio address to the nation
As SGA members reflected on the sacrifice and commitment thousands of men and women in the armed forces have made for this country, there were a wide array of sentiments. Some were brought to tears as they thought about the hardships our veterans have faced. Others were cheerful with an overwhelming appreciation, for veterans protecting our country's values. The common theme felt throughout the parade was a clear sense recognition that serving ones country could be a tremendous burden, and one must have an unwavering amount of selflessness. It is through this realization that we will be forever indebted to our brave soldiers.
